Dr. Milo Gibaldi, dean emeritus of the School of Pharmacy and professor of pharmaceutics, is the author of Drug Therapy 1999, A Critical Review of Therapeutics, published last month by McGraw Hills Health Professions Division. The 500-page book covers more than 100 topics related to current uses of therapeutic drugs. McGraw Hill plans to issue a new edition each year. Dr. Zhengui Xia, assistant professor of environmental health in the School of Public Health and Community Medicine, has received one of five 1999 New Investigator Awards in Toxicological Sciences from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund. The award provides $210,000 over three years. Xia will be working on mechanisms of arsenite neurotoxicity. The awards are intended to support promising researchers early in their careers.
