BIO 99 in Seattle May 16 to 20 About 5,000 participants from 40 countries are expected to be in Seattle next week for BIO 99, an international biotechnology meeting and exhibition at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center. More than 125 workshops and seminars are scheduled. Many faculty members from the UW and affiliated institutions will be participating. A symposium on Monday, May 17, called Visions of Biotechnology Pioneers will include Dr. Edwin Krebs, UW professor emeritus of pharmacology and biochemistry and 1992 recipient of the Nobel Prize, and Dr. Lee Hartwell, president and director of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and UW professor of genetics, among others.
