The Industry Relations Office in the School of Medicine is reinstating a lunch-hour seminar series. The topics are designed to educate faculty, staff and students on the Universitys research interface with industry in the biomedical sciences and, more specifically, on the interface between clinical researchers and industry and government agencies. The first seminar, What Would It Take To Transform Your University Research Program into a Start-Up Company? by Chris Somogyi, president and CEO of Lucent Medical Systems, Inc., will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 27, in room D-209 of the Health Sciences Center. The next seminar, Patenting of Biomedical Research Discoveries, will be June 24. Check the University Week calendar for listings.
Research fellowships for UW faculty and staff are being offered by HBS International, Inc., based in Bellevue, in cooperation with the UW Center for Cost and Outcomes Research (CCOR). The fellowships, which will include access to administrative data from the HBSI National Healthcare Data Warehouse, provide up to $10,000 and research support. Applicants may compete for the awards by submitting research proposals to be reviewed by UW faculty and HBSI senior staff.
