Research participants needed The UW Alzheimers Disease Research Center is looking for healthy people age 55 and over with early memory loss, also called mild cognitive impairment, to participate in drug studies. The studies will determine whether certain medications can help prevent more severe disabilities such as Alzheimers disease. While some participants will be given a placebo (inactive substance) to make comparison possible, any participant who develops more severe memory loss will receive the investigational drug. Participants must be accompanied to clinic visits by a friend or relative and have no history of strokes. The clinic is located at the Seattle Veterans Affairs Medical Center on Beacon Hill. For more information, call Beth at (206) 764-2069 or 1-800-317-5382. ¶ University Week The faculty and staff publication of the University of Washington uweek@u.washington.edu May 20, 1999
