Melanie Olson displays one of more than two dozen ceramic disks created by her fourth- and fifth-grade students for installation in a sundial at Olympic Elementary School in north Seattle. UW astronomy professor Woodruff Sullivan worked with Olson and her students to come up with the sundial design as part of a K-12 hands-on science program called Project Astro. Sullivan and Cathy Deering of Puget Sound Energy had a bright sunny day Saturday when they climbed into the bucket of a PSE truck and put the pieces of the sundial up on the school.
