President names committees for deans, vp searches President Richard L. McCormick has named members to advisory groups that will search for a new vice president for university relations and new deans of the School of Law, the College of Architecture and Urban Planning and the College of Forest Resources. The president asked all groups to “establish methods of seeking the opinions of the broader UW faculty, student and staff communities, as well as appropriate constituencies outside the University of Washington” and submit three names to him for consideration. He urged them to advertise widely and be mindful of the University’s commitment to diversity. Vice President for University Relations Provost Lee L. Huntsman is chair of the 15-member Advisory Committee on the Vice President for University Relations. Other committee members are: Vicky Carwein, chancellor and dean of UW Tacoma; Bridgett Chandler, assistant vice president for regional affairs; Jamie Clausen, Graduate and Professional Student Senate representative; Marilyn Dunn, vice president for development; Jackie Der, director of medical policy affairs; Kathleen Fearn-Banks, associate professor of communications; Louis Fox, vice provost for educational partnerships; Gerald Grinstein, UW regent; Jody Patton, director of Paul G. Some of the candidates may emerge in response to advertisements for the position, but others may have to be contacted individually and persuaded to permit their names to be considered. I am available to help you with the task of recruiting candidates, if the committee so desires.” Dean of Law Dean Marc Lindenberg, Evans School of Public Affairs, will chair the 13-member Advisory Committee on the Deanship of the School of Law.
