Campus Health Service shifts care location for some employees Campus Health Services, which provides work-related immunizations, TB testing and acute injury care for UW employees, has changed the location at which many health sciences faculty, staff and students receive such services. Effective this month, the CHS site at UW Medical Center will only provide immunizations, TB screening, work-related examinations and minor injury treatment for UWMC employees. All other health sciences faculty and staff, including those from the School of Medicine, will need to seek care at the CHS site in Hall Health Primary Care Center, across Stevens Way from the HUB on upper campus. This site already provides care for other UW faculty and staff. Dr. Elaine Jong, medical director of the CHS, said that limited space and budget considerations made the change necessary. Immunization clinics will be held in south campus locations for some special group needs, such as student immunizations, she said. Exceptions to the new policy will be made for health sciences faculty, staff or students who need immediate post-exposure care for blood-borne pathogens or who are involved in animal care programs. These services will still be offered at the UW Medical Center site in NN-256. If you have questions about the new policy, or need advice on seeking care, call Campus Health Services at 548-4848. ¶ University Week The faculty and staff publication of the University of Washington uweek@u.washington.edu July 22, 1999
