Meeting
The UW Board of Regents has canceled its meeting for Friday, Aug. 20. The next regular public meeting of the Board is at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 17, in the Walker-Ames Room, 225 Kane. The Regents will meet in formal session to take official action on personnel appointments and changes, gifts and grants, contracts and agreements with outside agencies and other university business.
Study Subjects Needed
Seeking subjects 65 years and older to participate in a University of Washington Department of Environmental Health air pollution study. Subjects may be either healthy or have physician-diagnosed chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD) or cardiovascular disease. The subjects must live in the Seattle metropolitan area and be nonsmokers and live with no smokers. The study lasts 10 days, and if you qualify, we will ask you to:
Allow air pollution monitoring in your home
Wear small personal monitors
Measure your lung functions and pulse rate daily
Provide daily urine samples
Keep a simple diary of your activities.
Technicians will visit you daily during the study. You will be reimbursed $100 for your participation.
