Gay, lesbian task force seeks your ideas

The President’s Task Force on Gay, Bisexual, Lesbian and Transgender (GBLT) Issues is seeking comment from the campus community. When President McCormick created the task force on June 10, he asked its members to help him identify and address challenges facing gay, bisexual, lesbian and transgender (GBLT) students, faculty and staff at the University of Washington. The task force was charged with:

  • collecting and analyzing information and serving as a forum for discussion of issues affecting GBLT students, staff and faculty;
  • developing ways to advise the campus community on GBLT issues;
  • creating a comprehensive list of currently available resources that serve the needs of GBLT students, staff and faculty and composing a list of needed services that are not currently available;
  • recommending ways to make the list of resources accessible to GBLT students, staff and faculty;
  • reviewing existing UW policies regarding GBLT issues and recommend any changes or new policies;

    An information-gathering session will be held today from 4:45-6 p.m. in Room 107, Bothell Campus

    In addition, the task force is conducting a brief survey of the entire campus community. The survey is available on the Web at http://www.washington.edu/reports/gblt/. It can be printed and sent to 104 HUB or 9 Communication, or mailed to the Equal Opportunity Office, Box 354560, via campus mail. Additional comments can also be sent. You can link directly to the survey through UWeek Online at http://depts.washington.edu/uweek/.

    If you have questions or additional information for the task force, please e-mail gblt@u.washington.edu.
