Faculty Senate Agenda for Oct. 21

The next meeting of the Faculty Senate is Thursday, Oct. 21, at 2:30 p.m in 301 Gowen Hall. The agenda is as follows:

  • Introductory Comments—Professor Gerry Philipsen, Chair
  • Report from the Senate Committee on Planning and Budgeting—Professor Mary B. Coney, Chair.
  • Legislative Report—Professor JoAnn Taricani, Faculty Legislative Representative.
  • Report of the President/Opportunity for Questions—President McCormick.
  • Call to Order and Approval of Agenda.
  • Summary of Executive Committee actions and upcoming issues and actions.
    The Executive Committee approved the minutes of the Senate Executive Committee meetings and continuation meetings of April 5, 12, and 19 and May 10. It also approved the minutes of the Faculty Senate meeting of May 27. It heard reports from the Senate Committee on Planning and Budgeting, the Faculty Legislative Representative and the Faculty Council on University Libraries.

  • Requests for Information.
    Senators are encouraged to submit requests for information in writing to the Senate Chair prior to meetings. Responses will be provided by the appropriate persons.
  • Memorial Resolution.
  • Nominations and Appointments.*
  • Discussion Item: Draft Class A Legislation on Procedures For Promotions * Volume Two, Part II, Chapter 24, Section 54. Would amend sections of the Faculty Code to provide for increased involvement by the candidate in the promotion process.

  • Motions involving Class C Actions should be available in written form for distribution at the meeting.
