Shotridge and Vanderhoop

Native American Arts Celebration offers a rare opportunity to watch some of the Northwest¹s best-known Native artists at work. Two different artists will demonstrate their skills from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 13 and 14 at The Burke Museum. Israel Shotridge, left, (Tlingit) will demonstrate carving on Sunday, while Michelle Volz (Salish) weaves baskets. On Saturday, Evelyn Vanderhoop, right, (Haida) will weave an elaborate Chilkat blanket robe, and David Boxley (Tsimshian) will carve. Each day at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Coast Salish storyteller Johnny Moses will tell Native American myths.
