MASTER PLAN: Transportation open house held Oct. 13

The campus master planning team held an open house for community members, UW faculty, staff and students on
Oct. 13. One was held in the afternoon at the HUB and the evening one was held at University Heights Community Center. About 100 people participated in both sessions and some 50 people participated by sharing their comments at our web-site.

Bike racks.

At the open house, stations were set up around the room where participants were able to share their ideas in the areas of transit, institutional policies that affect transportation usage, U-PASS, parking and driving, walking, biking and accessibility. The ideas gathered at the open house ranged from creating a Monorail-like system to move people around campus to establishment of a bike rental system to allow people to move around campus via rental bikes, to creation of a water-taxi at south campus. All of the ideas gathered at the open house will be evaluated and reviewed for possible inclusion in the transportation management plan for the upcoming 2002-2012

For a complete review of the ideas shared with the team, please look at our campus master plan Web page http://www.washington.edu/community/cmp.html. ¶
