Autoimmune disease forum: A free public forum on autoimmune diseases is planned Sunday, Feb. 6, at the UW Health Sciences Center. Sponsored by the American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association (AARDA), the forum will be held from 1 to 4:30 p.m. in room T-439 and will cover recent research findings and emerging therapies. Autoimmune diseases, in which the body’s own immune system attacks cells as if they were invaders, include Type 1 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease and lupus. Drs. J. Lee Nelson, Cheryl Pickett ansd Rahul Kuver, all from the UW Department of Medicine, will be joined by Dr. Noel Rose of Johns Hopkins and Virginia Ladd, AARDA president.
