Eliminating paper PAF forms

Plans are under way to put additional portions of the paper PAF online this spring. The On-Line Appointment Development (OLAD) USER team has been working to incrementally eliminate the PAF. The first additions will be available via the current Online Distribution Change Application released this past summer and are expected to further reduce the need for paper PAFs.

The following PAF capabilities are expected to be available online this spring:

1. Ability to change appointment start date, end date, and rate of pay fields for student hourly employees.

2. Ability to change appointment end date and rate of pay fields for temporary hourly employees.

3. Ability to extend the appointment end date field for other employees.

Additional appointment functions and fields, which are not part of this first release, will be added throughout the biennium. Information on these and other deliverables being prepared by the USER Project are available on the Project Web site http://www.washington.edu/user/..

Relief for Venezuela

A team of UW students called Helping Hands is organizing the collection of relief funds for Venezuela. Heavy rainfall in recent months caused massive landslides in December, killing an estimated 30,000 people and displacing thousands more. This is one of the worst natural disasters ever faced in Latin America. There is a great need for shelter and medical care among the estimated 400,000 people without homes. Helping Hands is seeking students and other volunteers to help in organizing the collection of cash contributions for the victims of this disaster.

Positions include:

  • Adult coordinator/treasurer
  • Students to help collect donations or organize various aspects of the project

To volunteer, contact Lorena Chavez by e-mail at loren9@u.washington.edu or by phone at (206) 527-3011. Or contact Lisa Kledzik by phone at (206) 527-3011.
