Senate series will continue tonight

The faculty-senate sponsored lecture series “Rethinking the University” resumes today at 7 p.m. when Michael Leff, a professor of communication studies at Northwestern University, speaks in 112 Kane Hall. The series is part of President Richard L. McCormick’s Conversations About the Future initiative.

Leff’s lecture will consider some similar issues to William Sullivan, who spoke during a Jan. 27 lecture. Leff’s lecture is entitled “Cultivating the Useless: Rhetoric and the Liberal Arts in the Age of Consumerism.”

University of Washington professors Johnella Butler and Hazard Adams will offer responses to Leff’s lecture. Lisa Coutu, from speech communications, will be the moderator.
