Regents approve Academic Medical Center Board The UW Board of Regents last week approved renaming and expanding the duties of the current UW Medical Center (UWMC) Board. The Board, made up of community members and business leaders, will now become the UW Academic Medical Center Board. The Board will advise the vice president for medical affairs and dean of the School of Medicine on matters such as clinical programs, affiliation and contract agreements and system-wide patient care issues. The UW Academic Medical Center includes the School of Medicine, UWMC, Harborview Medical Center and UW Physicians neighborhood clinics. The Boards committees for finance, joint conference and facilities will remain focused on UWMC issues. The executive and planning committees will now expand their work to Academic Medical Center issues. ¶ University Week The faculty and staff publication of the University of Washington uweek@u.washington.edu February 10, 2000
