Researcher refining matching factors for bone marrow UW investigators publish protein links in Feb. 10 Nature Pre-med senior wins UNCF-Merck science research award Better equipment, techniques improve heart surgery results
Research participants needed The Physical Activity for Total Health study, based at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and funded by the National Cancer Institute, is seeking sedentary women, 50 to 75 and in good health to participate. Women must be non-smoking, past menopause, not using menopausal hormone therapy, and planning to be in the area at least a year. Participants are assigned to exercise groups. The UW Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is studying the effect of menopause and estrogen replacement therapy on the physical environment of the vagina. Women between 50 and 65, past menopause or who have had a hysterectomy, and not taking hormones are needed to participate. The study includes filling out a questionnaire, pelvic exams and biopsies. Participants will be paid $100 for the first three visits and an additional $50 for a fourth visit.
