The Shingles Prevention Study, based at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System, is seeking participants for a large national study to determine if an investigational vaccine can help prevent shingles and its painful complications. Study volunteers will receive either the vaccine or a placebo during a single visit. Volunteers may be eligible to participate if they are age 60 or older and have never had shingles. Blood pressure study: The School of Medicine’s Division of Nephrology is looking for people with high normal blood pressure to participate in a study. Men and women age 30 to 65 with blood pressure readings between 130-139/85-89 are needed. Participation includes a physical exam, EKG, blood tests and blood pressure monitoring.
