Friday, March 10 open house set for UWMC units

Faculty and staff are invited to see the newly finished 8th floor units at UW Medical Center during a trio of open house events on Friday, March 10.

The events will provide an opportunity to tour the new inpatient unit opening on 8-Northeast for Seattle Cancer Care Alliance patients and the UW Medical Center ourpatient clinic area on 8-Southeast. Both units are in the Cascade Tower and most easily accessible from the Cascade elevators.

The open house hours will be from 7 to 9 a.m., noon to 2 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. on the eighth floor. These areas were recently completed in preparation for the move of the first group of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center adult inpatients to 8-Northeast, scheduled for April 11.

The UW Medical Center Cancer Center will move its medical oncology, hematology and breast cancer clinics and infusion services, including chemotherapy to 8-Southeast on March 14. The rest of the Cancer Center services will stay on the first floor.

Faculty, staff and volunteers from all three Alliance participants - the Hutchinson Center, the UW and Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center - are invited to the open house. For more information, call Health Sciences/Medical Affairs News and Community Relations, 543-3620. ¶
