UW student Zahra Karmali and Martin Luther King Elementary School student Aphroditis Howell share a laugh at the school last week as the Pipeline Project celebrated three years of service in Seattle public schools. The Pipeline Project, started with a $300,000 grant from Coca-Cola, has placed more than 2,000 UW students in the schools to tutor young children. It will be continued with University funding.

Morning Edition host Deborah Brandt sits at the console in KUOW’s new home, which is upstairs in the J.C. Penney Building on University Way N.E. The building is better known these days as the location for Wizards of the Coast. KUOW held an open house to celebrate the move, which was attended by Wendy Kaufman, below, the local correspondent for National Public Radio. KUOW was formerly located in the Communications Building.
