Letter from the President

Dear Colleagues:

It is my pleasure to announce that beginning in spring 2000 the monetary awards made to each Distinguished Teaching and Distinguished Staff awardee will increase from $3,500 to $5,000. Excellence in Teaching Awards given to graduate students will be increased from $2,000 to $2,500. The Outstanding Public Service Award and the Distin-guished Graduate Mentor Award will increase from $3,500 to $5,000.

These various awards are one way the University of Washington can say thank you for the excellent work and dedication of our faculty and staff. These increases reflect the importance I attach to the contributions our awardees make to this University.

Sincerely yours,

Richard L. McCormick

President
