ENDOWED PROFS: Four UW professors from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering were recently recognized for their appointments to endowed professorships. Hank Levy, an expert on computer architecture and operating systems, was appointed the Microsoft Professor of Computer Science & Engineering. Dan Weld, the Washington Research Foundation/Thomas J. Cable Professor of Computer Science & Engineering, is a renowned researcher in artificial intelligence, as well as an active entrepreneur who has helped found Internet companies Netbot, AdRelevance, and Nimble.com. David Notkin, who has conducted groundbreaking research in software engineering, was named the Boeing Professor of Computer Science & Engineering.
