UNIVERS-AL GRANT: Guillermo Gonzalez, a UW research assistant professor in astronomy, is among 15 scientists worldwide who will share in $1 million in grants from the John Temple-ton Foundation of Radnor, Pa. The grants are for innovative research that will clarify and measure the extent to which the universe can be said to be fine-tuned to support life. Gonzalez, whose Templeton grant totals $58,000 over three years, works to characterize the properties of planets that recently have been discovered outside the solar system.
