Chisholm celebration planned for May 8
A celebration of the life of Margaret Chisholm, former director of the UW School of Library and Information Science, will be from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Faculty Club. Chisholm, who headed the school from 1981 to 1992 and was also the Universitys first female vice president, died of cancer in November.
Chisholms personal slogan and the one that she made famous during her time as president of the American Library Association was motivate, inspire, and lead. In remembrance of her, the Margaret Chisholm Motivate, Inspire, and Lead Fund has been established by Margarets daughters, both of whom are librarians themselves.
This fund, created through the School of Library and Information Science, will be used to bring important leaders in the field of librarianship to the school to inspire the next generation of librarians. To make a donation or for information about the celebration, contact Carrie Lowe, Assistant to the Director at 616-1154 or e-mail calowe@u.washington.edu. ¶
