Marcia Rhodes has assumed the position of director of Health Sciences Risk Management. Rhodes, who began work at the UW earlier this month, comes from the MMI Agency, where she worked with insurance, clinical risk management programs, claims administration and consulting services.
From 1986 to 1994 she was director of risk management for the Virginia Mason Health System, where she developed and implemented a comprehensive program. In 1994 she became vice president of Sullivan, Kelly & Associates, an insurance brokerage firm for health-care clients. She has also worked as a claims representative for physician professional liability claims and as a claims supervisor. Rhodes is a 1980 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a bachelors degree in English literature. As director of Health Sciences Risk Management, Rhodes oversees programs to prevent professional liability claims against both UW Medical Center and Harborview Medical Center, as well as the health sciences schools. She succeeds LeAna Osterman, who retired last year. Her office is in C-414 of the Health Sciences Center; the phone is 598-6307. ¶ University Week The faculty and staff publication of the University of Washington uweek@u.washington.edu May 25, 2000
