Television crews flock around Laura Phillips, left, collections manager of the Burke Museum, after Nellie, the mummy was CT scanned at the UW Medical Center to get a better picture of her condition. The scan revealed that the mummy had a metal rod inserted in its body in 1916, was probably in its early 20s at death rather than being an adolescent as was first thought, and that it had a healthy set of teeth. About 800 images were taken of Nellie during the scan to assist in efforts to preserve the 2,000 year-old mummy, which was donated to the Burke in 1902.

Campus Haunts
One of my favorite spots on campus is the path that meanders through a little grove of trees as one travels between the fountain and the forestry building. I think its called Island Way. It is a peaceful and pretty respite from buildings and traffic (both people and vehicles) as one walks from upper campus to Health Sciences.
