Physical therapy events

UW physical therapists from Hall Health Primary Care Center, the UWMC-Roosevelt Exercise Training Center, the Sports Medicine Clinic and the UWMC Physical Therapy Department will offer four events in October to mark Physical Therapy Awareness Month. All the events are free and all are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays.

  • Oct. 3, HUB second floor, across from information booth. Participate in sub-maximal heart rate tests and flexibility scrreenings to improve your conditioning program. Learn correct positions for working at your computer.

  • Oct. 10, UWMC-Roosevelt, main lobby. Have a postural assessment and receive body mechanics information or body composition testing. Learn correct positions for working at your computer.

  • Oct. 17, Intramural Activity Building, back classroom. Participate in a flexibility screening and get suggestions for a general stretching program or body composition testing. Have a 5-minute injury consultation with the physical therapists from the Sports Medicine Clinic.

  • Oct. 24, UW Medical Center Physical Therapy, EE-712 (Pacific Tower). Have a postural screening or a balance screening. Learn ways to improve posture and balance.

    Nerve signals

    A Neural Signaling Symposium, open to interested UW researchers, has been organized by the School of Medicine’s Department of Pharmacology and the Vollum Institute at Oregon Health Sciences University. There are two sessions, one Friday, Oct. 6, from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. in room K-069 of the Health Sciences Center and one Saturday, Oct. 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in room T-625, HSC.
