Temp help available via Web
Temporary help is now just a submit button away, thanks to University Temporary Services (UTS) new on-line request process.
UTS, a division of Human Resources, is notified immediately when a department submits an on-line request for temporary help. The request is then reviewed and employees who are available and who have the correct set of skills are matched and contacted. The on-line system makes requesting temporary help easier and quicker than before, said UTS Manager Pamela Sonderland-Johnson.
To access the on-line temporary request system, UW staff and faculty must have a UW NetID. The UW NetID reliably identifies UW staff and faculty in an on-line environment and supports UTS communication with its clients, Sonderland-Johnson said. To set up a UWNetID account, see: http://www.washington.edu/computing/uwnetid/.
When submitting a request on-line, departments should be prepared to provide the dates the employee will be needed; a detailed job description including equipment to be used, skills required, work location; and budget and contact information.
A help menu is available for on-line requests and additional training will be provided on request. To place an on-line temporary request, or for further information, visit the UTS website at http://www.washington.edu/admin/uts.
UTS will still accommodate those without access to the Internet by taking job requests via phone or e-mail.
UTS can be reached at uts@u.washington.edu, or by phone at (206) 543-5813.
