Diversity book club series set

A series of book club forums beginning on Thursday, Feb. 22 will focus on diversity.

The forums, sponsored by the Multicultural Organization of Students Actively Involved in Change (MOSAIC), begin Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. in Odegaard Undergraduate Library. Participants will read and discuss books dealing with diversity issues.

The first meeting, which will be facilitated by Maureen Boyd, will consider the Judith Roof and Robyn Wiegman book, Who Can Speak?: Authority and Critical Identity. Boyd will spend about 30 minutes discussing the authors’ background, the book itself and how others have reviewed the book. Discussion will follow.

Other books in the series include A People’s History of the United States (Thursday, March 29), Lost in Translation (Monday, April 23) and By the Color of Our Skin: The Illusion of Integration and The Reality of Race (Tuesday, May 29).

The forums are open to anyone interested in issues of diversity. For more information, visit the group’s Web site at http://students.washington.edu/mosaicuw/Pro/bridges.htm.
