Scientists, engineers needed
The UWs K-12 Institute for Science, Math & Technology Education is helping to recruit scientists and engineers from campus to participate in an outreach effort with Seattle Public Schools. Scientists and engineers are needed to serve as judges in a district-wide science fair for middle school students and to host some of the winners during an afternoon job-shadowing session.
The science fair is on May 10 at the Museum of Flight. Several judges are needed to review about 110 projects. In addition, judges will be asked to interact with the students by sharing some of their professional expertise.
As a science fair prize, the district will offer students the opportunity to shadow a scientist or engineer for two or three hours one afternoon between May 15 and June 15. Volunteers are needed to host these prize-winning middle school students.
