Sign up now for summer programs for kids

Now is the time to register children for Educational Outreach’s summer programs for youth. Children of faculty and staff get priority for these programs until April 6; after that, they’re up for grabs.

The Summer Day Program is an all-day program designed for children ages 6-11. Sessions run for two or three weeks, with a different theme for each session this year including Backyard Adventures, Passport to the World and Sky Watch. In conjunction with the hands-on exploration of these themes, children enjoy swimming and supervised outdoor activities.

This year Educational Outreach is also offering all-day, one-week programs for 9- to 11-year-olds at the Arboretum, where kids can explore Curious Critters and Flora Fun.

Middle school programs this summer include two-week sessions of the Middle School Academy and one-week Middle School Short Courses. The academy delves into the academic disciplines, while the short courses highlight special topics such as inventing robotics and toys.

Educational Outreach will also offer some programs for high school students. For further details and registration information, call 543-2310 or go to http://www.outreach.washington.edu.
