Diabetes and exercise

If you or someone close to you has diabetes, you know that regular physical exercise is an important part of staying healthy. The problem is fitting exercise into your already busy schedule, while monitoring both medications and what you eat. You can find help at a free talk, “Staying Active with Diabetes,” starting at 7 p.m. Monday, March 19, at the REI downtown store. Diabetes specialist Dr. Darce Trence of the Diabetes Care Center at UW Medical Center will talk about how you can manage your blood sugar levels with exercise. This talk is ideal for diabetics considering starting an exercise program, and for those having trouble finding a balance between activity, diet and medication. “The Healthy-U” fitness and health talks at REI are sponsored by UW Physicians. No registration is necessary.
