Home fair to put UW employees in touch with housing experts

HomeStreet Bank, administrator of the UW’s Hometown Home Loan program, is sponsoring a Spring Home Fair, May 8-10 at three campus locations:

The sessions will be May 8, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., 106B HUB; May 9, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Health Sciences lobby; and May 10, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Harbor-view Hall Auditorium A.

This is an opportunity to ask the experts questions on home financing, remodeling, purchasing a home, or gardening and landscaping. The fair will include realtors, who can explain what the current market is doing; contractors, to answer questions about remodeling; home inspectors, who can explain what is involved in a home inspection; gardening experts, to help solve gardening dilemmas; and loan officers from HomeStreet Bank, who can answer questions about the benefits of the Hometown Home Loan Program.

In addition, HomeSight, a local nonprofit housing counseling agency, will be available to provide information on the down-payment assistance and credit-counseling programs they offer.

The event on May 8 at the HUB will feature a talk at noon by special guest Ed Hume, master gardener. More information about the Hometown Homeloan program is available online at: http://www.washington.edu/admin/benefits/hometown.html
