Use Web for maintenance requests

Campus units needing non-emergency maintenance or alteration services will have a new, Web-based tool available to them July 16.

A new computerized maintenance management system in Facilities Services will allow for improved job planning, assignment and tracking and more job information for clients. The Facility Management Enterprise (FME) is Web-based and will provide an easier, more familiar-looking tool for requesting services.

The work request screen is at http://www.washington.edu/admin/facserv/workrequest.html. From the UW Home Page, it can be found under Departments and Facilities Services. In order to use the form, clients must have a UWNetID. The entry screen is designed for easy use, with help information and pop-up explanatory notes.

Facilities Services will be holding demonstration sessions for clients who would like a live introduction to the system The next session is set for 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 12 in the Allen Library Auditorium. Help with the new system is also available by phone at 685-4129 or by e-mail at: FME-help@u.washington.edu.

E-mail (wkorder@u.washington.edu) and phone requests will continue to be accepted, but using the new system will ensure the fastest and most efficient response. All campus clients can use the new work entry form. The form will also allow clients to retrieve basic job information, such as status and costs to date for time and materials projects.

For questions about the new system, contact the FME Help Desk, 685-4129. For help in obtaining a UWNetID, go to Computing from the UW Home Page, then select “Get Your UW NetID.” For users who read e-mail from an address not in the “u” domain, e-mail from the NetID must be set up for forwarding. Contact help@cac.washington.edu or departmental computing support for additional information.
