The Combined Fund Drive runs through Nov. 21. Throughout the drive, University Week will feature faculty and staff who give back to the community by volunteering their time.

Volunteer Activity: Provide support at Seton House
Mission of Volunteer Organization:
Seton House is a program administered through Catholic Community Services of Snohomish County. Seton House provides transitional housing for up to eight pregnant or newly parenting homeless women, with a safe, nurturing, and healthy environment in which to raise their child.
Time as a Volunteer: Approximately six months
Why This Activity?
I believe that there are a number of women in society who are in a “negative cycle” due to a variety of circumstances. Seton House provides the chance for the “cycle” to be broken by allowing these women to live for up to two years in a home that provides long-term stability, skill development and long-lasting change.
Satisfaction in Volunteering
I receive satisfaction in seeing these women trying to make a positive change in their lives and to break the cycle that they were in by providing a safe, nurturing, healthy environment for their child.
