Alex Chin, one of the GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness & Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) students who came to the School of Dentistry’s first half-day Dental Camp session in late July, worked with Dr. Shawneen Gonzalez on one of the “simulators” in the main dentistry skills teaching laboratory. The camp encouraged students to learn more about dental careers and steps they could take to prepare. Washington Dental Service Foundation, which is a camp sponsor, established an Educational Futures Task Force that identified a need to diversify dental professionals in the state.
