The series will kick off on Thursday, Sept. 12, with a presentation from 1 to 2 p.m. in room D-209 of the Health Sciences Center on “The University of Washington Technology Commericalization Process” with Catherine Innes, director of educational outreach in the Office of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer, and Dr. Susan Wray, director of industry relations in the medical school.

The Sept. 12 introductory program will describe the overall UW process and services available to UW faculty, staff and students who invent patentable technology or who make copyrightable works such as software.

Other seminars scheduled in the series, all to be held in room D-209, are:

•  “Inventions and Patents,” from 2 to 3 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 15, with Innes and Wray as speakers.
• “Copyright Works, Software, Trademarks and Trade Secrets,” from 1 to 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 14, with Innes as the featured speaker.
• “Managing Conflicts of Interest When Working with Companies,” from 2 to 3 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 3, with Michael Corn, director for researach and industry relations support in the School of Medicine.
• “Starting a Company While Working at the UW,” from 1 to 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 10, with Innes and a panel of small-business entrepreneurs.
