Cory Carlson - Distinguished Service Award

Alumni Affairs

Cory Carlson

Cory Carlson, who has been active with UW alumni affairs ever since his graduation from the MBA program in 1981, is the winner of the Alumni Association Distinguished Service Award. The award goes to an individual for outstanding efforts on behalf of the Alumni Association. Carlson has filled a number of offices at the UW Alumni Association (UWAA), including president. During his term as president, he was actively involved in the negotiation of the University's agreement with FirstUSA for an affinity credit card that resulted in increased funding for alumni association programs. He was also a driving force behind the UWAA's Technology Task Force, charged with looking at ways the alumni association could leverage technology to communicate more effectively with alumni. A direct result of this task force was the successful launch of the lifetime e-mail forwarding program introduced for the class of 1999. Carlson has also served on the Strategic Planning Task Force, and is currently leading the Facilities Committee's efforts to plan a new building to house the alumni association and the Office of Development.
