This is an annual event featuring open houses, class reunions,
lectures, tours, live entertainment, Husky sporting events and
more for the campus community and the general public. It's a chance
for everyone to come back to campus to enjoy all the University
of Washington has to offer, and get a first-hand look at everything
that is going on at this premier institution in our backyard.
For more information about Washington Weekend visit our website.
One highlight of the event is the Business School
Showcase on April 28 from 3:00 – 6:00 pm. For more information

The UW Business School hosted
a candid "CEO Exchange" between Starbucks CEO
Jim Donald and Nordstrom President Blake Nordstrom during
a live taping of the national PBS business show January
5 at Meany Hall for the Performing Arts. |
| (The show aired on many PBS stations earlier
this month.) More than 850 students, faculty and business
leaders in the audience were treated to an intimate glimpse
into two landmark Northwest companies and the men who lead
them today. CEO Exchange host Jeff Greenfield, a CNN senior
analyst, and several audience members posed a range of personal
and professional questions to Donald and Nordstrom. Follow
the link for more on the show and a further link to streaming
video of the event. [more...] |

Business and Economic Development has evolved from Program to
Center at the UW. The Center's predecessor program has worked
with minority and small businesses for more than a decade, deploying
more than 600 Business School students, advised by alumni and
business leaders, to consult 250 minority and small businesses
and non-profits around Washington. The bottom line has been the
creation of more than 500 jobs and $20 million in new revenues
in the Seattle area alone.
Now the Business and Economic Development Center (BEDC) adds a
strategic research arm. "The establishment of this Center
will supercharge our efforts to improve the business practices
of companies in economically distressed communities and those
owned by people of color," says Business School Dean James
Jiambalvo. [more...]
