A variety of activities take place throughout the year beginning with an afternoon Fall Reception in early October. At this event, members renew acquaintances, welcome new arrivals to the university, and review the opportunities for participating in Interest Groups while enjoying refreshments.
Dinner/Lectures take place on the second Wednesday of the month and feature interesting and informative speakers on a variety of topics. Several times a year a movie is shown in lieu of a lecture. The programs usually begin at 7:30 PM at the University of Washington Club, preceded by an optional social time at 5:30 and dinner at 6PM. Dinner reservations are required and may be made by calling the Club 48 hours in advance. Non-members of the Club may make arrangements to attend dinner by contacting the Program Chair . The November Dinner/Lecture includes the awarding of scholarships. Lectures are always free and open to the public.
Afternoon business meetings are held in November and April that include speakers as well as brief reports of activities of the organization. The University of Washington Club is the location for the meetings.
In December the UWFA sponsors two activities. Members and their guests enjoy a festive Holiday Tea which is held at the UW President's residence on the first or second Monday of December. Musical entertainment and the introduction of a group of international students are often included. A second event is the Dinner/Lecture with the program geared towards families with children.
The final program of the year is the Spring Luncheon, which is held in May. Following a lovely lunch the Faculty Auxiliary Board for the following year is introduced, and an interesting speaker provides entertainment.
More than half of Faculty Auxiliary members participates in an Interest Group. Throughout the year each interest group meets regularly, weekly or monthly. For a list of these activities see Interest Groups .
