Dr. Stein directs the PEARL Clinic, which provides multidisciplinary evaluations of children and adolescents with learning, attention, or regulatory problems in Bellevue and at Seattle Children’s. The PEARL Clinic provides consultation to community pediatricians and trains pediatricians, subspecialists, and psychologists in school and behavior problems. He also directs the SEA STAR program, which is a summer treatment program for youth with ADHD and related disorders, and is a research ethics consultant for ITHS. Dr. Stein is a child clinical/pediatric psychologist who has specialized in ADHD for over 30 years. He is an active clinical researcher who has over 100 scientific publications, with a major emphasis on Attention Disorders in children, adolescents, and adults. He is on the executive committee of the American Professional Society for ADHD and Related Disorders (APSARD). Dr. Stein has conducted numerous clinical trails of ADHD and has made significant contributions to the genetics of ADHD and treatment response, the relationship of ADHD to sleep problems, thyroid and medical mimics of ADHD, and adaptive functioning. His current research is on treating parents with ADHD who have young children at risk of ADHD, comparative efficacy and tolerability of ADHD treatments, treatment of children with ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorders, and personalizing ADHD treatment.
