Please use the following checklist to assist GEMS in providing a quick and successful graduation for your students:<\/p>\n

Checklist<\/span><\/h2>\n
Before you recommend a student for graduation in MyGrad, verify the following:<\/em><\/p>\n
\n
the master\u2019s degree request indicates the correct degree code. If the code is incorrect, please enter a departmental comment on the Master’s Request before recommending the student for graduation, such as “ATTN GEMS: Update Degree code to MUSIC-20-25.<\/strong>“<\/li>\n
department contingencies have been cleared<\/li>\n
petitions, if necessary, have been submitted\u00a0and<\/em>\u00a0approved by GEMS<\/li>\n
required courses have grades appearing on the degree audit<\/li>\n
all requirements appear\u00a0OK<\/strong>\u00a0(satisfied) on the degree audit (see exceptions under\u00a0Requirement Status on Degree Audit<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0in the below section)<\/li>\n
current quarter grades have posted to the transcript<\/li>\n
the warrant has been printed; see\u00a0MGP Help<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Requirement Status on Degree Audit<\/span><\/h2>\n
The Degree Audit is color-coded to help you quickly identify the status of requirements:<\/p>\n
IP<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 The requirement is satisfied when the current or in-progress courses are completed.
\nNO<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The requirement has not been satisfied.
\nOK<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The requirement has been satisfied.<\/p>\n
You can run the Degree Audit from the Student Detail Page in MGP to verify that\u00a0all<\/strong>\u00a0requirements appear\u00a0OK<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>with a few exceptions:<\/p>\n
The following requirements will always appear as\u00a0NO<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>because they are satisfied by GEMS during graduation processing:<\/p>\n
\n
Thesis accepted by the Graduate School<\/li>\n
Thesis written in English<\/li>\n
Dissertation accepted by the Graduate School<\/li>\n
Dissertation written in English<\/li>\n
Registered as a graduate student the quarter the Final Exam is taken<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
The following requirement will appear as\u00a0NO<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0if the student is paying the\u00a0Graduate Registration Waiver Fee<\/a>:<\/p>\n
\n
Maintain registration as a graduate student through the end of the quarter in which the degree is conferred<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
All<\/strong>\u00a0other requirements should appear\u00a0OK<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0before you recommend graduation in MyGrad.<\/p>\n
Degree Audit Tips<\/h2>\n\n
Examine the\u00a0IP<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0requirements closely. Sometimes grades are missing for required courses taken in previous quarters\/years.<\/li>\n
Do not recommend graduation if an\u00a0IP<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0course is a required course. Confirm the grade has posted\u00a0before<\/em>\u00a0you recommend graduation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nNew Departmental Exceptions and DARS Help Files<\/h2>\n
