Students should review the Office of Ceremonies&#8217; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/graduation\/how-to-participate-2\/\">Graduation Checklist<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p> NOTE: all questions about commencement should please be directed to the Office of Ceremonies (not GEMS), <a href=\"mailto:commence@uw.edu\">commence@uw.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Graduation Deadlines:<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>June 15th: <a href=\"https:\/\/grad.uw.edu\/for-faculty-and-staff\/gpa-gpc-resources\/dates-and-deadlines-admission-academic-performance-and-progress-and-graduation\/?trumbaEmbed=view%3Devent%26eventid%3D157486911\">Priority graduation:<\/a> first day to submit degree recommendations for Spring 2022 graduation<br \/>\nJuly 1st: <a href=\"https:\/\/grad.uw.edu\/for-faculty-and-staff\/gpa-gpc-resources\/dates-and-deadlines-admission-academic-performance-and-progress-and-graduation\/?trumbaEmbed=view%3Devent%26eventid%3D157555046\">Graduation (Final):<\/a> Last day to submit degree recommendations for Spring 2022 graduation<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Graduation Training:<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>For most graduate programs, Spring is the highest volume graduation quarter. We encourage advisors to review the <a href=\"https:\/\/grad.uw.edu\/for-faculty-and-staff\/gpa-gpc-resources\/#Training\">Graduation Training for Graduate Advisors\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0(webinar &amp; PDF) in advance of Spring graduation. <\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Master&#8217;s Degree Code Update Process\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>We encourage advisors to check their students&#8217; degree codes now. If the student will graduate in a different degree pathway, use the &#8220;update&#8221; button on the student detail page to change the degree. <a href=\"https:\/\/grad.uw.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/Updating-Degree-Code.pdf\">Updating Degree Code Help file<\/a>.<br \/>\nIf the student&#8217;s degree pathway is updated before the student submits their Master&#8217;s request, the Master&#8217;s request will have the correct pathway. <\/p>\n<p>However, if the degree pathway is not updated before the Master&#8217;s request is submitted, departments should enter a departmental comment on the Master&#8217;s Request before recommending the student for graduation, such as &#8220;<strong>ATTN GEMS: Update Degree code to MUSIC-20-25.<\/strong>&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>With this new process, GEMS can correct the code, then return to the record in two days to process and approve the graduation. This process delays graduation and the student&#8217;s degree posting.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/grad.uw.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/Master_Request_Dept_Comment.jpg\">Sample Master&#8217;s Request Correction<\/a><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Student Petition: Extend Time Limit\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Students may need their time limits on their degrees extended before their graduations can be processed.
