Honors Advisors
Aley Willis
Aley has been an advisor in the UW Honors Program since Autumn, 2002. She completed her undergraduate studies at UW with an Honors degree in English Literature, and will soon complete her graduate studies at UW with a Masters in Education with an emphasis in Higher Education Policy Studies. She has focused much of her studies on how college students incorporate experiential learning opportunities into their curriculum. Before working in higher education, Aley worked in book publishing in NYC and Seattle and holds a particular interest in literature of the environment
Working with Honors students has been a wonderful way to help motivated college students create an individualized path of study and reach their goals at the UW. When not working with students, or thinking about higher education, Aley spends as much time as possible in the mountains around the Seattle area and traveling to places of interest - mostly revolving around more mountains. She has traveled through most of the US, much of Europe, the Caribbean, Coast Rica, Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, and Nepal and is thrilled to help students learn about study abroad and other international opportunities.
Brook Kelly
Brook has been an advisor with the Honors Program since Spring 2005 and has been working in Honors since 2002, when she was herself an Honors student. Brook completed a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science with Honors and History from the University of Washington in Winter 2004. She spent the next six months traveling in eastern and southern Africa on a Bonderman Fellowship.
After that incredible experience she returned to Seattle to work at the Honors Program, where she has been learning how much fun it is to be at the University and not have homework! She enjoys working with amazing students doing incredible things and helping them connect their studies to the rest of the world through service and experiential opportunities. Brook plans to someday pursue a graduate degree, most likely in global/public health, but for now she enjoys hiking, exploring the beautiful city of Seattle, watching bad TV shows, reading anything she can get her hands on, visiting her family in eastern Washington, and traveling any chance she gets.
