Transfer Admission
Who and How
Transfer students who have participated in honors programs elsewhere or who have unusually good college academic records and have not completed a majority of their general education requirements may be interested in joining the full College Honors Program. Those interested in entering the Honors Program must wait until they have been admitted to the University of Washington before applying to Honors. While transfer students are in the process of applying to the UW, however, they can meet with an Honors adviser to discuss the Honors requirements and options. These advising sessions can be arranged by emailing uwhonors@u.washington.edu.
Once admitted to the UW, transfer students should make an appointment with an Honors adviser to discuss their interest in the program and review the application. At this time they should bring in the Transfer Student Application Form and unofficial transcripts from their previous school(s) to the Honors Office, Mary Gates 211. Honors credit can be given for courses completed at other schools on a case-by-case basis and at the discretion of the adviser.
Lots of Credits?
Transfer students who have completed the majority of their General Education requirements or who have earned an associates degree are probably better suited to enter into a Departmental Honors program and not pursue completion of the four-year track for Full College Honors.
