Study Abroad
We believe that studying abroad is one of the most beneficial opportunities that undergraduates have here at the UW, and strongly urge all of our students to consider working one of these programs into their course of study. The Honors Program offers a few international opportunities of its own and also works with students involved in other UW study abroad programs to count some of their civilization or culture courses abroad towards their Honors Core requirements. Please come to our offices and meet with an advisor before you finalize any study abroad plans so that we may discuss how your time abroad will affect your Honors requirements. Once your study abroad plans have been approved for Honors credit, you will need to work with the faculty director of the study abroad program to obtain Honors Ad Hoc credit.
**Beginning Summer Quarter 2007, Honors Ad hoc is required to obtain Honors credit for any study abroad program not administered through the Honors Program. This ensures more accurate and consistent record keeping toward Honors graduation and also will result in an Honor level project to supplement your study abroad experience. Honors credit for study abroad without ad hoc work prior to Summer 2007 will still apply toward Honors core credit. Please talk to an Honors advisor if you have questions.
Check out our Honors International Engagement Website for more information on opportunities abroad.
