About Waseda

University of Washington Honors Program students are invited to apply for this interdisciplinary leadership program which runs autumn 2014-spring 2015 in Tokyo, Japan.

Students will receive UW credit (Honors or other credits per pre-approval). Housing costs are covered through the program; however, students will need to cover tuition (cost of UW tuition), airfare, food, and spending money.

Students accepted to this "integrated study abroad" program will enroll in a preparatory seminar during spring quarter and engage with a small cohort of GLP Waseda exchange students who are spending the current academic year at the UW. In addition, during the year long program at Waseda University, UW students will engage with a cohort of students from US universities who are part of the GLP cohort (at present UW, Columbia, Georgetown, University of California-Berkeley, and University of Pennsylvania).

Current sophomores and juniors from all majors are encouraged to apply (to see a list of course offerings visit: http://www.cie-waseda.jp/glp/us/curriculum/disciplinary-courses)

Current Waseda University students are also invited to apply for the Global Leadership Program. Waseda students accepted to the program will participate in Honors Program courses and will be part of the Honors community at the UW. Waseda GLP students will take Honors classes and also classes in their majors. Waseda GLP students will be required to enroll in the Honors core course "Global Leadership" (5 credits) and will enroll in leadership and research seminars during winter and spring quarters (2 credits each quarter). Students will create an Honors Learning Portfolio specific to their GLP experience as part of their interdisciplinary and experiential education while at the UW. Other classes taken at the UW will be specific to the student’s majors and also electives depending on student’s interests. Students will benefit from personalized advising through the UW Honors Program and the Office of International Programs and Exchanges.
