HSA Supervisor Certificate Training Program

All supervisors in HSA with one or more direct reports are required to complete the 6-class HSA Supervisor Certificate Training Series by the end of 2018. There is no cost for these classes; this is part of HSA’s commitment to support our supervisors and staff. Completion of the HSA Supervisor Certificate Training is now part of performance development plans (PDP) for our supervisors.

These classes include both lecture and discussion time, giving you an “excuse” to take time away from your daily routine and share ideas/brainstorm/consider tips and suggestions with other HSA supervisors – your peers. What are the soft skills you’d like to further develop? How can you become a better supervisor?

The 6 class topics are:

  1. Change . . . is here!
  2. Training, Coaching and Mentoring for Success
  3. Employee Performance: Partnering for Success
  4. Feedback: Meaningful and Effective
  5. How to Get Your Employee Back on the Right Track: Corrective Action
  6. Planning for Your Unit’s Future: Strategy, Leadership and Continuity

All supervisors with at least one direct report are required to attend. There are six session in the series, each session is two hours. If you are a ½ hour or more late to a session, or need to leave a ½ hour or more early, it is considered incomplete and you will need to make it up in the next offering. The series is scheduled for completion in three months. Attendance is required to all sessions to receive your certificate. Completion of this program is a performance expectation going forward. If you are unable to attend a session, you may make that session up in the next offering. Once all HSA supervisors have compelted the training it will be opened up to interested staff who do not have direct reports as well.

In 2018 we are offering each of the classes in this six-class series 3 times. For more information or details on how to register for classes please contact hsatrain@uw.edu.
