HSA Supervisor Certificate Training Program

Now that the majority of HSA supervisors with at least one direct report have completed our required HSA Supervisor Certificate Training series we are opening the series up to anyone interested. The series is now open to all HSA staff, whether you have direct reports or not. If you do not have direct reports, you needn’t attend the complete series, but can pick and choose topics that are interesting to you.

As a reminder – All supervisors in HSA with one or more direct report are required to complete the 6-session HSA Supervisor Certificate Training Series. There is no cost for these sessions; this is part of HSA’s commitment to support our supervisors and staff. Completion of the HSA Supervisor Certificate Training is now part of performance development plans (PDP) for our supervisors.

Each session includes both lecture and discussion time, giving you an “excuse” to take time away from your daily routine and share ideas/brainstorm/consider tips and suggestions with other HSA supervisors – your peers. What are the soft skills you’d like to further develop? How can you become a better supervisor?

The 6 class topics are:

  1. Change . . . is here!
  2. Training, Coaching and Mentoring for Success
  3. Employee Performance: Partnering for Success
  4. Feedback: Meaningful and Effective
  5. How to Get Your Employee Back on the Right Track: Corrective Action
  6. Planning for Your Unit’s Future: Strategy, Leadership and Continuity

There are 6 sessions in the series, each session is two hours. If you are a ½ hour or more late to a session, or need to leave a ½ hour or more early, it is considered incomplete and you will need to make it up in the next offering. The series is scheduled for completion in three months. Attendance is required to all sessions to receive your certificate. Completion of this program is a performance expectation going forward for all HSA supervisors. If you are unable to attend a session, you may make that session up in the next offering.
