Share the miracle of the holidays with others by giving back to the community. When money is tight, low-income families and the homeless are in the most need of your support.

            Winter Wishes Giving Tree at University Village: Now – Dec. 21
            Make a child’s holiday wish come true by picking up a request tag off the giving tree. Last year, University Village was able to deliver more than 1,000 presents to needy children. Attach the request tag to your unwrapped present ad drop it in the box next to the giving trees.
“When I was a child, I always looked forward to buying presents for the giving tree at church,” said Jackie Parrill, a mother of three. “Even at that young age I knew that there were people who didn’t always get a Christmas gift; that has inspired me to continue doing what I can to help others.

            The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle: year round
            By provide clothing, toys and Christmas dinners The Salvation Army aids more than four-and-a-half million seniors, homeless and needy families. Find the Red Kettle, accompanied by the generous volunteers, outside your local grocery stores and shopping malls.

            KING 5’s Holiday Wonderland’s Qwest Carousel: Now – Dec. 31
            Take a ride on KING 5’s carousel and enjoy the country-fair-style music while taking in the glow of the Christmas decorations downtown. A minimum of $12,000 of the proceeds will go to Treehouse, a local non-profit organizations that helps children in foster care.
            “I remember going here on a date,” said Melissa Louis, a senior at the University of Washington. “I was nice to go out and enjoy downtown while being able to donate money to kids in foster care.”
